With the ongoing rise of the cryptocurrency industry, popular sports teams and athletes have started to close deals with crypto companies to raise awareness of their products. Many new coins appear regularly with all new features and functions. This makes the sector highly competitive, with more contenders trying to enter the market and make a profit. Promoting a crypto solution becomes difficult without famous individuals or celebrities.
One example of such cooperation is a deal between Daniel Ricciardo, McLaren Formula One driver, and the popular crypto trading and web3 platform, OKX. The two parties have signed a partnership deal to see the famous athlete working as an ambassador for the crypto exchange throughout the 2022/23 season.
Based on the terms of the agreement, Ricciardo will support the company in increasing the customer experience with different activities. Some of the steps they will take include an international campaign backed by driver’s fans on crypto trading and collaboration with designers from marginalized communities to introduce a brand-new edition helmet that will be used in the races.
The partnership will also open new opportunities for Daniel’s fans, allowing them to follow his crypto trading journey. This will be followed by an opportunity to see Ricciardo away from the Formula 1 racetrack.
OKX is already a first-choice trading platform for the F1 driver who uses its solutions along with over 20 million customers across 180 markets worldwide. OKX has recently become the partner of both the McLaren Formula 1 Team and McLaren Shadow esports Teams.
After becoming a part of the OKX community, the driver’s first race was Monaco Grand Prix on May 29. During the event, Ricciardo wore a cap with OKX branding.
Following the closure of this promising deal, Daniel Ricciardo said that it was an exciting time in the world of crypto with endless possibilities, and he was honored to partner with OKX, a true leader in the industry. According to his words, the company truly values its users, education, transparency, and safety. The new deal will be an opportunity to focus on the fan experience and the big things that will come in the future.
Reacting to the new agreement with a famous McLaren driver, Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer at OKX, said that after spending time with Daniel speaking about his passion for crypto trading and desire to learn, it was evident that he was a perfect match for the brand.
The popular F1 driver will have an important role in helping the company to expand its reach in the new markets. The partnership will also enhance the fan experience and educate new people on the advantages of trading responsibly with cryptocurrencies. The company was thrilled to announce a long-term agreement just before the prestigious race in the F1 and one of the most special events for Daniel, the Monaco Grand Prix.

Daniel Joseph Ricciardo is an Australian driver and McLaren Formula 1 team member. He was born on 1 July 1989 in Western Australia, Perth, to an Italian-Australian family. He attended Newman College high school and has been engaged in karting since the age of 9. Before joining F1, Ricciardo participated in competitions such as Formula Three and Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
He debuted at the 2011 British Grand Prix as part of the HRT team. His debut resulted from the deal between HRT and Red Bull Racing. He holds number 3 and has already made 8 Grand Prix victories in the most prestigious racing competition.
Ricciardo became a member of Toro Rosso back in 2012, shortly after the team altered its driver lineup. He spent two years in an Italian company where he drove a Ferrari-powered vehicle. In 2014, the Australian driver joined Red Bull to replace Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. After his first season in a Red Bull car, Ricciardo finished third, having three Formula One wins in Canada, Hungary, and Belgium.
The next two years brought less success for Ricciardo as he finished without a podium. He returned to the stage at the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix and clinched the third position in the championship at the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix. In the following years, he won several races, including the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2017, and the Chinese and Monaco Grand Prix in 2018.
Soon after, Ricciardo sealed a deal with Renault and drove for the same team in 2019 and 2020. He became a part of McLaren in 2021 and still races for the popular team with a colleague, Lando Norris. He won the very first race for McLaren at the Italian Grand Prix. The end of the 2021 season was remarkable for Ricciardo as he became a member of the Order of Australia, an honor that acknowledges Australian citizens and other people for great achievements.
