If you’ve always been curious about crypto poker sites, but weren’t sure if they’re the best option, check out some of my recommended benefits to choosing a great Bitcoin operator.
A major upside to choosing a crypto poker site is the lack of geo-restrictions.
Most Bitcoin poker sites are licensed in Curacao, which gives them a wide reach, and a lot of poker players worldwide can access poker brands that operate out of Curacao.
This also means that you can open an account with many Bitcoin poker sites that would usually be outside of your jurisdiction. But of course, you should first check if gambling is allowed in your country of residence.
In order to access poker sites anywhere in the world, you have the option to enable a VPN to mask your IP address.
This certainly gives you many more options when you choose an overseas poker brand, but I’ll just point out that using a VPN is often frowned upon, and you should consider carefully whether or not to use one.
Some poker operators will use a VPN as an excuse to confiscate your funds, while others welcome players using VPNs.
Some VPN-friendly crypto sites that accept poker include:
In fact, this is what I received from one of BetOnline’s representatives when I asked about using a VPN to play at the site:
“Using a VPN is not prohibited on our site, and you can feel free to use it. Please keep in mind that it may cause issues from time to time when you play a certain casino game”
As you can see, BetOnline operates a pretty open-door policy when it comes to VPNs, whereas some other brands take a harder line.
For instance, this is the rather blunt and to-the-point reply I got from PokerStars when I approached them with the same question:
“The use of VPN is not allowed”
Well, at least they don’t mince their words!
An area where cryptocurrencies have the edge over fiat coins is that they may increase in value over time.
Fiat currencies, such as USD and GBP, lose a fraction of their value every time you make a transaction.
On the other hand, cryptocurrencies have the ability to increase in value, and in a short space of time.
Therefore, a decent win at a Bitcoin poker site could lead you to pocket a solid amount of crypto, with the potential to increase in value in the future.
But be aware; the opposite is also true. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies also have the potential to lose value, and are considered a volatile asset to trade in.
But isn’t that part of the fun of playing with a different type of currency?
A huge advantage to crypto poker sites is that players can use them anonymously.
This is good news for three reasons.
Anonymous play means that your personal and financial details are protected online and kept away from prying eyes.
It means you don’t have to go through as many KYC steps as you would at another operator.
If you choose to use a VPN and play anonymously, you’ll have access to many other international poker sites that are usually restricted.
Just a quick tip from me: poker is not included at many anonymous casino sites.
However, there are dedicated crypto poker websites where you can enjoy anonymity along with a large catalog of poker titles.
So check these out for the ultimate poker experience.
Tied in with anonymous play is financial freedom.
The sad truth is that many financial institutions do not like people who gamble online, so you may find that an application for credit, such as a mortgage or loan, is declined if your bank knows that you play poker regularly.
Since you don’t need to give out your personal information at a Bitcoin poker site, you can relax in the knowledge that your bank or any other lender never needs to know about your hobby.
One of the reasons why I think you should try out a Bitcoin poker website is that they offer a level of unparalleled security not found at fiat operators.
From SSL encryption software, to not needing to give out personal details such as your name or bank account number, BTC poker sites are naturally a more secure option.
Also, the way you deposit and withdraw funds at these sites comes with even more secure measures added on.
Also, the way you deposit and withdraw funds at these sites comes with even more secure measures added on.
One site that comes to mind for a secure experience is mBit Casino. They use 128-bit SSL encryption software to protect your details, along with the sophisticated SoftSwiss gaming platform, which is trusted throughout the industry.
Things like cashout limits and withdrawal times vary from site to site.
That said, with a top Bitcoin poker site you can generally look forward to higher cashout limits and a faster turnaround when it comes to taking out your winnings.
Fiat currency poker sites offer banking options such as debit cards, bank transfers, and e-wallets. However, these all come with their own approval periods.
Add this to the operator’s own pending period and you’ll generally experience a wait of between one working day and one full week before you see your winnings.
Take out these banking methods and replace them with crypto, and you should see your winnings far quicker.
In fact, if all your information is up to date, there’s no reason why you won’t get your winnings on the same day as you request them.
Again, BetOnline comes out on top when looking for fast withdrawals, with requests processed between 24 and 48 hours.
I’m not saying that fiat currency poker sites are dead, but their popularity is waning in the wake of crypto poker brands and their benefits.
I’m confident that if you try a crypto casino or poker site that accepts crypto, you’ll never return to the snail’s space of fiat operators.
With added security, quicker transaction times and the chance to play anonymously, I’ve seen a surge in the amount of players switching to crypto poker sites, and it’s only a matter of time before these Bitcoin poker operators overtake their fiat currency rivals.
Therefore, don’t be the last to go down with the sinking ship, and get out while the getting’s good!
Selecting a great crypto poker site can be difficult, if you don’t know exactly what to look for.
That’s why I’m here to help. Follow my easy step-by-step guide on what to look for in a worthwhile Bitcoin poker site.
First up, you should always ensure that the site you want to play at is legal and legit.
Unfortunately, the internet is full of shady operators that are happy to take your money, but offer little in the way of genuine poker opportunities.
So in order to check whether a site is safe and secure, make sure to do the following.
Any safe and legit poker brand will have a license number from a reputable authority.
In Europe, this may come from theMalta Gaming Authority (MGA), or in the UK from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).
Stateside, these entities will vary from state to state, so it’s best to check what the local authority is in your jurisdiction.
Finally, many operations opt for a Curacao license that helps them serve many other parts of the world.
Finally, many operations opt for a Curacao license that helps them serve many other parts of the world.
In order to check for a license number, simply take a look at the footer of the homepage.
If the poker brand is legit, you should see the license number properly displayed, along with a logo or crest from the authority that issued it.
A great example is the ChipStars website. Simply scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and take a look at how a reputable and licensed site displays its details clearly.
If you find yourself on a site where you can’t see the licensing information easily, I recommend pausing your registration until you can do some research.
It’s not usually advisable to play at an unlicensed site, as they will not offer you the same great experience and safety as a legitimate brand.
SSL encryption is the software that encrypts any transaction between you and the poker site.
Its primary function is to keep you and your financial details safe while online, so I recommend only choosing sites that use this tech.
Checking for this encryption software is also easy.
Just take a look at the address bar in your internet browser. When you’re on a site, there should be a padlock to the left of the address bar:
If the padlock is unlocked, then the site does not use SSL encryption and you should not proceed.
You’ll also most likely get a notification from your computer or phone to tell you that the site is not safe, so do not ignore this warning.
Another part of staying safe and secure at a great online crypto poker site is making sure that it is legal for you to play at.
Each country has its own gambling laws, with some more relaxed than others. Therefore, make sure that your chosen poker brand services the country where you live.
If gambling is prohibited in your country of residence, then you have the option to enable a VPN to mask your IP address.
But as mentioned previously, this is not advisable in countries where gambling is illegal, as this may be seen as criminal activity.
Not to mention, if a poker site discovers you are using a VPN, you may have your funds confiscated and your account closed.
My advice yet again is to be diligent and think twice before opting for a VPN.
Once you’ve found a safe crypto poker site, it’s time to look at what benefits you get as a customer.
Don’t forget, a good poker brand takes great care of its customers from the moment you sign up and open an account.
Therefore, don’t just jump into the first offerings you see. Take some time to shop around and find out what bonuses are available with these Bitcoin poker sites.
Generally considered the most lucrative of all bonuses, the welcome package at a Bitcoin poker site may include one or more different types of offers.
Common bonuses found in sign-up offers include:
No deposit bonus: you receive your bonus without needing to pay into the site
Deposit match bonus: the poker site matches your deposit amount with a percentage of bonus funds
Free spins: enjoy free spins on slot games, if the poker brand also offers slot gaming
Of course, a welcome bonus will apply to new players only. So this is your chance to bag a great deal that will complement your new membership.
One Bitcoin-friendly site where you can poker and pick up a great introductory bonus is BC.Game. Even though the welcome package is subject to change, I’ve seen generous offers like a 180% deposit match offer with this site; so it’s definitely worth checking out.
But don’t be blinded by the promise of bonus funds and other perks. First, take a few moments to read through the terms and conditions of any welcome offer before you opt in.
Look out for things like:
Heavy wagering
Short expiry dates
Low maximum cashout limits
Excluded payment methods
Excluded games
All of these can hinder your enjoyment, so it’s important to understand your bonus so that you can use it to your advantage.
As the name suggests, a reload bonus is where you pick up an extra offer as a reward for making a second or third deposit at the same poker site.
Effectively, you “reload” your account with a deposit, and a good crypto poker site will reward you for doing so.
Reload bonuses are usually in the form of a match deposit offer, whereby you could double, or even triple, your spending power.
Most crypto poker sites will have ongoing promotions for you to enjoy. These are for all players, and are designed to reward you for your continued loyalty to a brand.
Some popular types of promos include:
Freeroll tournaments: enter into a tournament completely free of charge
Rakeback bonuses: get some of the site’s rake returned to you in the form of bonus funds
Referral rewards: refer a friend and receive an extra bonus
Bonus codes: get your hands on an extra bonus or reward when you use a bonus code
Boost poker tournaments: get entry into these exciting competitions and play more poker in less time
A crypto poker site that offers some truly fantastic ongoing promos is Bovada.Lv, where you can enter into Mad Monday and Knock Out tournaments, as well as explore other offers like slots comps and sports betting battles.
Another great way to get rewarded for your continued custom at a Bitcoin poker site is to join their VIP program.
VIP and other loyalty programs work differently, depending on the site, but the majority follow the same pattern, whereby you climb levels to claim more rewards as you go.
Some great examples of crypto poker site VIP programs include:
Stake: get rewarded the more you play. Plus, enjoy rakebacks and other perks when you become a Stake VIP
Bets.io: earn point to climb the levels, snapping up things like cashback, bespoke bonuses and even fun “Mystery Boxes”
7Bit Casino: with 10 levels to achieve, members of the VIP Club can accrue extra bonuses, free spins and cashback, as well as take part in 7Bit’s many ongoing promos and comps.
Many of us are guilty of only considering customer service when we have a problem.
But we believe that client care should be one of your priorities when it comes to choosing a great poker site that accepts crypto.
Check for things such as customer attention hours. Can you contact the poker site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
Also, look at what’s on offer in terms of contacting the site and its staff. Is there an email address and telephone number?
In addition, is there a live chat feature which lets you contact the site when you want?
A truly excellent poker brand that offers its customers a superior service is BetOnline. I contacted them on a Monday afternoon and I was instantly passed to a member of staff via the live chat feature. My advisor was friendly, professional and genuinely helpful.
I also like it when the poker brand clearly displays their live chat icon for people to find, so that you don’t have to search the site for clues on how to get in touch.
Plus, you don’t need to have an account to chat with an advisor, which is another nice touch from BetOnline.
One of the most important things to consider when choosing any poker site with crypto is how easy it is to deposit and withdraw, and how many banking options are offered.
Today’s modern crypto poker sites let you choose from a wealth of different coins and tokens to bank with.
At a reputable brand, you should expect to see big-name coins such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as Dogecoin and Litecoin.
But if you’re a customer who wants to use another more exotic coin, then it will pay dividends to do some research and find out who will offer you this option.
One brand that offers a vast selection of currencies is BetandYou. With over 30 crypto coins on offer, this is one of the most inclusive crypto poker sites around.
As a general rule, crypto deposits are instant.
Therefore, I would recommend opting for sites that give you the option to make lightning-fast payments.
Withdrawals generally tend to take a little longer than deposits.
Even when you consider that using crypto eliminates the usual pending periods you find with fiat banking options like cards and bank transfers, you may still have to wait a while to see your winnings at a poker site with Bitcoin.
In this case, you should opt for a site that guarantees a quick turnaround when it comes to cashing out your winnings.
Most recently, I’ve enjoyed DitoBet for their fast withdrawal times. They state that you can see your winnings within 12 to 24 hours, but in reality, it can take a little longer.
Still, with many players receiving their funds within two days of requesting them, DitoBet still comes up trumps!
Even though crypto poker sites have been around for some years now, there is still a sense of apprehension among players who aren’t sure if they’re ready to make the jump to crypto.
But what many people don’t know is that you don’t actually have to go fully crypto if you don’t want to.
But what many people don’t know is that you don’t actually have to go fully crypto if you don’t want to.
There are two options when it comes to selecting a crypto poker site: end-to-end and hybrid crypto poker websites.
A hybrid crypto poker site is exactly what it sounds like.
Instead of only offering cryptocurrencies as payment options, you can choose between digital coins and fiat currencies, such as USD and EUR.
Some upsides of choosing a hybrid poker operator include:
Paying in and withdrawing using currencies you’re used to
Enjoying the same exciting selection of poker games
Choosing crypto as a preferred payment method when it suits you
Hybrid Bitcoin poker sites are the perfect option for those who want to dip their toe into the crypto gambling world
Some potential drawbacks to opting for a hybrid poker site include these points:
You won’t benefit from some of the perks of 100% crypto poker websites
You won’t be able to gamble anonymously once you reintroduce fiat into the equation
Withdrawal times are longer with fiat currencies
The KYC procedure is a lot longer and your personal and financial information is more vulnerable to online hackers
Also known as 100% crypto gambling sites, end-to-end operators will only let you deposit and withdraw using cryptocurrencies.
These, too, have their own set of individual pros and cons which I’ll go into now, starting with the pros:
End-to-end crypto poker sites are naturally more secure than fiat-based brands
Some crypto poker brands will also offer casino gaming and a sportsbook, so that you can enjoy many style of gambling
You can gamble 100% anonymously
Enjoy the same variety of games
Crypto users usually experience quicker withdrawal times and less tedious KYC procedures
Now let’s consider some of the possible downsides of using a 100% crypto poker brand:
While your coins may increase in value, there is always the chance that they could go the opposite way and decrease
If you have any problems with your deposit or withdrawal that is outside of the poker sites’ parameters, there is nobody to complain to
There aren’t as many end-to-end crypto sites online, so your selection is smaller than if you opt for a fiat poker brand
Starting out at a Bitcoin poker side can be a little daunting if you’ve never done it before.
With that in mind, we’ve created a quick step-by-step guide on how to get started with Bitcoin poker betting.
Simply follow these steps for a seamless and enjoyable experience.
The very first thing you need on your new crypto poker adventure is an attractive site.
To make your life easier, I recommend selecting one from our list of trusted operators.
Don’t forget that together with our team of experts, I carefully review and vet every poker brand that I list.
My recommendations, therefore, cover several important aspects, such as the amount of games on offer, as well as payment methods, user experience, customer service, and available bonuses.
Choose one of our selected crypto poker sites and open an account.
The registration process varies from site to site, but it should be very straightforward and only take a few minutes.
Usually, your account will be verified by email and you’ll then be able to access your new poker account from any device of your choosing.
Perhaps you already have your crypto wallet loaded with funds. If this is not the case, then it’s time to purchase some crypto.
For this, I recommend going to a reputable exchange that won’t penalize you for using crypto at a gambling site.
In this instance, you should choose Binance or Kraken.
Unfortunately, exchanges such as Coinbase will not let you purchase crypto for the purposes of gambling online.
In fact, if you try to purchase digital coins to use at a crypto poker site, your account could be closed.
That’s why I suggest using exchanges like Binance, which is known not to restrict its customers when it comes to how they use their currency.
Once you have purchased your coins, it’s time to prepare them.
Unless you have one already, it’s time to create a crypto wallet to move your funds.
While not considered essential, crypto wallets offer you more safety and security than simply moving your coins from the exchange to your poker account.
You have two choices when it comes to crypto wallets: non-custodial and hosted wallets.
A non-custodial wallet means that you have 100% complete control over your crypto and how you move it.
You can also opt to keep your crypto offline, on a physical harddrive or USB; both of which offer protection from any online fraudsters.
Non-custodial wallets give you complete freedom to use your crypto as you wish, but they also come with the added responsibility of looking after your private and public keys.
In the event that you lose your private key, you’ll have little chance of ever retrieving it.
So while these wallets come with the least restrictions, be extra vigilant when storing your private and public key information.
As the name suggests, this is where your crypto wallet is hosted by a third party.
Some popular hosts include Mycelium, Exodus, and Trezor.
Hosted wallets are very easy to set up, and very cost-effective. They also come with the added benefit of security steps to get your information back if you lose access to your private key.
However, hosted wallets come with a lot of restrictions, and you are always at the mercy of the third party’s rules and regulations.
Also, they are always stored online, meaning that they are more vulnerable to cyber attacks from hackers.
We think that hosted wallets are the perfect solution for newcomers to cryptocurrencies, who aren’t ready to hold their crypto offline just yet.
But if you’re particularly security conscious, and/or own a lot of crypto, a non-custodial wallet could be a better option.
Once you have purchased your preferred cryptocurrency and loaded it on to your crypto wallet, it’s time to make the final checks before completing your deposit.
To do this, go to the Cashier section of your chosen poker site. Here you’ll find a public address linked to your account.
This address is completely unique to you, and its primary purpose is to inform the poker operator that the deposit is coming from you. This is in lieu of providing your full name and card details, as you would at a fiat currency site.
This is also how you are able to play 100% anonymously.
At this stage, copy the address into your clipboard, or write it down. Double-check it a few times over, as one mistake could invalidate your entire transaction and you could lose your deposit amount forever.
Now that you have your public address in your clipboard or written down somewhere safe, it’s time to make your deposit.
Go back to your crypto wallet, set up a new transfer and paste the public address of the poker site.
Make sure your deposit amount is correct and then click Send, or the equivalent.
Transaction speeds may vary from a few seconds to several hours, but deposits at crypto poker sites are usually instant.
If the funds have not reached your account in 6 hours, we recommend getting in touch with the poker brand via one of their communication channels.
Once your funds have arrived, it’s time to enjoy everything on offer at your new poker site.
It was widely believed that the game of poker derived from As-Nas, a Persian card game played in the 1600s.
There is also a suggestion that it actually comes from games such as Primero in Spain or Italy, and Poque in France.
But it’s Mississippi in the 1700s that is arguably the scene of the modern poker game, with the 52 cards in a deck that we all know and love.
Nowadays, there are many variations to the skill-based card game beloved around the world.
If you’ve never played poker, it’s time to get involved! So let’s take a quick look at the basic rules, along with some of the most common poker hands.
In casual poker rooms, each participant gets five cards face down (some variants use seven cards).
Players will try to make the most valuable hand using the cards they have been dealt.
As the game progresses, you will have the chance to ask the dealer for more cards. This is a chance to improve your current hand, but be warned; other players can accurately guess what you have by how many cards you request.
There are usually two to three rounds of betting in a game, starting with the “blind” or “ante”, who is the poker player to make the first bet.
Once the blind has placed the first bet, there are three routes the other players can take:
Raise: when a player is confident they can win, he or she can raise the bet amount (stake)
Call: to equal the amount wagered by the player who raised the stake
Check: if nobody has increased the stake required to continue, you can stay in the game without placing another bet
As the betting increases, some players will drop out of the game (“fold”) until there are two or more final players.
Eventually, you’ll have a showdown; this ends once a player raises the bet and nobody calls it. At this stage, the remaining players must show their cards.
The player with the highest-ranking hand then wins and takes the money.
Of course, poker is not entirely based on the luck of the cards you’re drawn. You can also “bluff” and convince your opponents that your hand is better than it is by not folding, and even upping the ante.
This is where skill comes into play, making poker a lot more dynamic than most other card games around.
Dealer: person who deals the cards to the other players
Button: allocates the dealer and order of play
Blind/Ante: person who makes the first bet
Fold: to leave the game and forfeit your wager
Bluff: to convince other players you have a better hand than you do
Poker Face: the ability to keep a straight face, regardless of their hand
As you can see from the rules, winning poker comes down to what cards you have at the end of the game.
This is called your “hand”, and there are many hands that you can make, depending on which version of poker you play.
With that in mind, here’s a quick rundown of the most common ranking poker hands, from the best to the worst:
Royal Flush: 10, J, Q, K, and A of the same suit
Straight Flush: Five suited cards in sequential order, such as a 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of diamonds
Four of a Kind: Four numerically identical cards, such as four 5s
Full House: Three-of-a-kind and a pair, such as 10, 10, 8, 8, 8
Flush: Five suited cards; five diamonds, for example
Straight: Five cards in a sequence, such as 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Three of a Kind: The identically numbered cards, such as three 6s
Two Pairs: Any two pairs in the same hand, like 8, 8, K, K, 5
One Pair: Two numerically identical cards, like two 9s
High Card: Judged on the highest ranked card; an Ace is the highest, while a two is the lowest
To show exactly how a hand of poker is played, we’re going to look at a real-world example.
This sample hand is from a five-card draw, which is one of the most popular poker variations:
You begin the game with three other players
You are Player A, with Players B and C to your left
You sit immediately to the dealer’s left; meaning you must play first and risk your stake as the blind
Each player gets dealt five cards; your hand reads 10, 10, 10, 7, 8
You can see that if another 7 or 8 comes up, you will have a Full House
This puts you in a good position, so you’re happy to call when Player C raises the bet
You ask for a single card and get an 8. This gives you the Full House you were looking for
Player C asks for three cards, suggesting they have one pair
Player C raises the bet substantially, which now suggests they are either bluffing, or have picked up three very helpful cards
You raise the bet and Player B folds, while Player C calls
Both you and Player C reveal your final cards, with Player C ending on Three-of-a-kind
You win the game, as a Full House ranks higher than Three-of-a-kind. Well done!
Poker is all about tactical thinking and reading the other players; it’s not simply “the luck of the draw.”
With so many ways to improve how you play, we’ve compiled a short list of 6 top tips on how you can become a better poker player.
One of the very first things you should do is to memorize the rules, including the ranking hands.
Of course, if you play video poker you could have the rules written down next to you as you play, so that you can reference them. But this won’t cut it in the real world!
Knowing the hands and their values is essential to becoming a good poker player.
You can also use this knowledge to predict what hand other players have, as per the example above.
If a player asks for three cards from the dealer, chances are they have a pair. However, they could also be reaching for a Full House or Flush.
One thing to understand about poker is that you will sometimes lose, regardless of your skill level.
Therefore, take your time and cut down the volume of hands you play and save your moves for when you have a good hand.
This also helps you to stop forming habits that others may pick up on, which is highly advisable once you reach a high level of poker.
Retain an element of unpredictability by bluffing now and again. The same goes for not always raising the stakes by loads when you have a good hand.
Patterns of behavior alert your competitors as to what kind of hand you have so, as the saying goes, “never let them know your next move.”
Whether you’re playing directly with your competitors, or against a computer in video poker, it pays to observe.
If a player raises their stake, they either have a good hand or are bluffing. This goes for video poker games, too, where the software has been programmed to bluff sometimes.
Paying attention to the moves and habits of your opponent is how you become a tactical poker player, and this skill is hard to master, but will make you a formidable force at any poker table.
If you feel the percentages are against you, fold. Playing with two pairs isn’t ideal if you feel your opponent has three of a kind.
There is no shame in folding, and getting out of a game without losing too much is preferable to letting your pride puncture a hole in your finances!
This is true of all gambling; chasing your losses will inevitably lead to more financial loss. If you’ve lost a few hands and are out of chips/coins, it’s best to walk away.
The worst thing you can do is to spend money that you can’t afford to lose, as this could land you in financial trouble very quickly.
You should never spend beyond your means, so if you’ve taken a big hit, leave the tables and return again on another day.
Now that you know the basics, it’s time to take a look at some of the most popular poker variants that you can play.
This list is by no means exhaustive, as there are countless versions of poker available online, but this is a selection of the fan favorites.
Possibly the most common game of poker. In this version, the dealer gives you 5 cards, face down.
The betting starts, with both a big blind and a little blind setting the stake.
You then have the chance to replace up to 3 cards, in a bid to create a better hand.
Betting continues, with players able to fold, check and call, or raise the stake.
The game concludes when a player raises the stake and nobody calls it. At this stage, the remaining players show their cards and the highest ranking hand takes the winnings.
In this version of poker, players start with two cards face down, and one card face up.
Betting commences, followed by three more cards face up, with a round of betting between each deal.
Finally, the last card is dealt face down, and a final round of betting takes place.
The winner is the player with the best 5-card hand.
Probably the world’s best-known poker variation.
In Texas Hold’em, players receive two cards face down as their personal hand. These are also known as your “hole cards”.
The first round of betting takes place, followed by another three cards. This is called “the flop” and these cards are called “board” or “community” cards.
Another round of betting occurs, followed by 2 more board cards, with more betting between each one.
Your aim is to make the best 5-card combination using your hole cards and the board cards. Just remember, everyone else can also use the board cards, too.
The winner is the player with the best hand at the end of the game.
The Omaha variation is similar to Hold’em in that it uses a 3-card flop on the board, plus a fourth and fifth board card.
The main difference is that each player is dealt four hole cards, instead of two, at the start.
To make a hand, a player must use exactly two hole cards with three board cards. This gives you a little more room to maneuver than Hold’em, but be warned; you can’t make other combos, such as three-hole cards and two-board cards.
The betting portion of the game is the same as in Hold’em, and the best 5-card hand wins the pot.
Caribbean Poker is very similar to the classic 5-card draw, but with some distinctive differences.
For instance, you only ever play against the dealer, not the other players. Also, no draws are made and bluffing doesn’t exist.
The dealer will give each player five cards face down, before also dealing themselves the same hand with one difference: they will flip one card (usually the last) over to display face up.
Once that card is flipped up, you can decide whether you’d like to place another bet on top of your initial stake, or fold.
The next step is to see if the dealer can “open” their hand. To do so, they need at least Ace-King, or higher.
If the dealer cannot open their hand, you get your original stake paid out 1-1. Your extra bet is a “push” and is returned to you.
If the dealer can open their hand, it comes down to who has the higher ranking hand to determine the winner.
The easiest way to purchase cryptocurrency and transfer it to your chosen crypto poker site is via a reputable exchange.
However, some of the biggest exchanges put restrictions on customers who use their digital coins for gambling.
If you think you can get around this, then think again!
Even though you can play anonymously at Bitcoin poker sites, it’s easy for these exchanges to see where the funds have been sent from.
Top-rated exchanges can track transactions on the blockchain using blockchain forensics software. It’s pretty hi-tech stuff, and a few of these exchanges have flexed their muscles by sending our team notifications.
That’s why it’s important to choose an exchange that won’t penalize you for sending your funds to places like Ethereum poker sites, and other crypto poker operators.
Currently, my top pick for a great crypto exchange is Binance. Here’s why:
Not only is it the biggest exchange in the world, but it has never had any policy against Bitcoin poker sites – ever
I believe it is the best choice because of its high level of security and nominal fees
Binance lets you withdraw quickly and offers a huge number of currency pairs
You can deposit and play on your favorite cryptocurrency poker site almost instantly
Of course, here at CryptoBetting.org, we believe that everybody should make the switch to using cryptocurrencies at poker sites.
